Are there breaks during AP exams?

Most AP exams have a short break (5–10 minutes) between Section 1 and Section 2. Longer exams like AP Calculus and AP Biology include a scheduled break. Check your exam's specific format on College Board's AP course pages.

What's the longest AP exam?

The longest AP exams are 3 hours 15 minutes: AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Physics 1, AP Physics 2, AP US History, AP World History, AP European History, and AP English Language.

What's the shortest AP exam?

AP Physics C: Mechanics and AP Physics C: E&M are each only 1 hour 30 minutes — the shortest of all AP exams. AP Psychology (2 hours) is next.
