AP Exam Dates 2027 — Full Schedule for Every Exam (May 3–14)

By Sarah Mitchell · October 7, 2026 · 6 min read

College Board has released the official 2027 AP exam schedule. If you're taking AP classes this year, these are the dates your whole spring builds toward — and knowing them now, in the fall, gives you months to plan instead of weeks.

Quick answer: 2027 AP exams run May 3–7 and May 10–14, 2027. Morning exams start at 8 a.m. local time, afternoon exams at 12 p.m. Registration for most courses closes November 13, 2026.

Key Dates for the 2026–27 School Year

The exam schedule is only half the calendar. These are the deadlines that actually decide whether you get to sit for the exam:

DateWhat Happens
Late Oct – early Nov 2026Typical school sign-up deadline (set by your AP coordinator — earlier than College Board's)
November 13, 2026College Board deadline to order exams for full-year and first-semester courses without a late fee
Nov 14, 2026 – Mar 12, 2027Late orders allowed, with an extra $40 per exam
March 12, 2027Ordering deadline for courses that start after November 13 (e.g., spring-semester classes)
May 3–14, 2027Regular exam administration
May 17–21, 2027Late testing
Early July 2027Scores typically released (exact date announced in spring)

The November deadline catches more students than anything else. For the full breakdown of fees, late charges, and what happens if you miss it, see our AP Exam Registration Deadline 2027 guide.

What If Two Exams Overlap?

Some combinations land in the same session — for example, Physics 1 and Physics C: E&M (Wed, May 5 afternoon), or French, Physics 2, and World History (Thu, May 6 morning). If two of your exams are scheduled at the same time:

  1. You take one exam on the regular date.
  2. You take the other during late testing (May 17–21, 2027).
  3. Your AP coordinator orders the late-testing exam — tell them about the conflict as early as possible, ideally when you register in the fall.

Back-to-back exams on the same day (one morning, one afternoon) are not a conflict — you're expected to take both. If you have that pattern, practice a full double-session day at least once before May so your stamina holds up.

How to Use the Schedule to Plan Your Studying

Knowing the order of your exams lets you sequence review instead of cramming everything at once:

FAQ

When are AP exams in 2027?

May 3–7 and May 10–14, 2027. Late testing is held the following week, May 17–21.

What time do AP exams start?

Morning (Session 1) exams start at 8 a.m. local time and afternoon (Session 2) exams at 12 p.m. local time. Arrive early — your coordinator will tell you exactly when to check in.

When is the last day to sign up for 2027 AP exams?

College Board's deadline is November 13, 2026 for full-year and first-semester courses, but your school's own deadline is almost always earlier. You can still be added after November 13 with a $40 late fee per exam, up to March 12, 2027.

Can I take an AP exam without taking the class?

Yes. Self-study students register through a school's AP coordinator like everyone else — the earlier you ask, the more likely the school can fit you in.

When do 2027 AP scores come out?

Scores are typically released in early July. College Board announces the exact date in the spring. See when AP scores come out for how the release works.
